At band this morning we had our auditions to move up from training band into the concert band next year. I had to play 'Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree' and 2 other songs that I learned last week. I also had to play a piece of music I hadn't seen before, and I only got 2.5 out of 10 ... but I only really started trying to read from music properly last week, so Mum was really pleased. Best was getting 9/10 for my scales.
I will have a purple concert band t-shirt for performances, and Mum is looking for a trombone of my very own. It's really exciting, and tonight we had a special dinner to celebrate :D

Congratulations! Reading (and writing) music is such a magical thing! And while I never had to do it, I understand that sight reading is verrrrry challenging!
