Christmas has been busy!

I am really lucky. Mum and Dad gave us our own Australian Girl dolls for Christmas! Mum even made her a maxi dress to wear.

A few days before Christmas Mum won an ebay auction and now I have a trombone of my very own. It's old, but still shiny, and the slide is perfect. I am practicing every second day.

I passed my audition!

At band this morning we had our auditions to move up from training band into the concert band next year. I had to play 'Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree' and 2 other songs that I learned last week. I also had to play a piece of music I hadn't seen before, and I only got 2.5 out of 10 ... but I only really started trying to read from music properly last week, so Mum was really pleased. Best was getting 9/10 for my scales.

I will have a purple concert band t-shirt for performances, and Mum is looking for a trombone of my very own. It's really exciting, and tonight we had a special dinner to celebrate :D

I love Bugs!

Today I was picking some flowers for Mum, and I found this big praying mantis in the lavender garden. He was really interesting watch for a while, and Mum let me use her camera with the macro lens on to take some photos. I really like this one.

Tiny Kitty

Koala (my Brownie leader) brought this cute little kitten to show us last week. He was so teeny tiny, only 3 weeks old. Mum took lots of photos of him, and I got to hold him. He purred and purred, and fell asleep in my hand. I was very sad that he died the next day, but I'm glad I got to meet him.

This is my trombone ... well it's really the school's trombone, which I have on loan for this year. I have been practicing most days, and I'm getting better and better. My favourite tunes to play are "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree" and "Minka Minka". I recently learned part of the "William Tell Overteur" which is really cool and I can play it faster now than I could at first.

I am saving and Mum is saving, and hopefully I will be able to have my own trombone next year, and move up from the training band to the concert band at school.

Happy birthday to Me!

It's my birthday today, and I am 10!! Yay!!! I have listed a new ACEO in my shop. She's a beautiful mermaid, and Mum let me use her Twinkling H2O paints, so it's all shimmery. And to celebrate my birthday I am offering a free ACEO with every purchase for the next month :)

My new cousin is here!

My Aunty Mel had a baby girl on Tuesday. We were allowed to visit, and she is really, really cute! I got to hold her and she slept and slept. Her name is Aston.

Mermaidia

I drew this today for my great grandmother to cheer her up. It is a mermaid city, and has just been discovered by two divers. I love mermaids.

I love this new Australian Girl doll

This is so cool! My Mum has a friend who has designed these really gorgeous dolls. They're just right for me and my sister, and they have gorgeous fashions too. I like the Emily doll because she looks like me, and my little sister can't decide ... she likes them all.

I'm getting a new cousin!

We saw my Aunty Mel yesterday and my little cousin Cooper, and my Aunty's tummy is VERY big! My new little cousin will be arriving soon ... maybe near my birthday next month. Mum says maybe 2 weeks. I'm just amazed that Auny Mel lost her belly button!

Sick

I have been sick all week, and it's not much fun. I have made some new paper dolls, though, and my Mum helped me make some magnets with prints of my KateDoodlez to put in my Etsy shop. There are 3 sets:

Paper Dolls

More than anything else I love digging into my Mum's paper scrap stash and making little paper dolls. I made one for my grandmother yesterday with 7 different dresses (one for each day of the week), so she can change her fashions. This is a doll I did a while ago, but I still like her.

Cute guinea pigs

My Mum made these cute guinea pig toys for me and my sister today. The one with pink bugs is mine (I really like bugs), and the glitter and stripe one is my sister's. They were really quick to make, and she got the pattern from www.BitOfWhimsyPrims.etsy.com

New Etsy Listings

Newly listed in my Etsy store is 'The Witch 2' ACEO. She's got a scathingly brilliant idea ... you can see it on her scheming face. Will she get Katelon's magic necklace this time?

And here is the her little sister Canobria (she's a good witch), about to slide down the back of a friendly purple dragon. This is a bookmark that Mum and I ran through the laminator to protect the artwork. We even trimmed the sharp corners :) Nothing but the best with KateDoodlez!

The Witching Hour

It's been a big week at KateDoodlez. I sold my favourite ACEO 'The Witch' (Katelon's nemisis), and today I sold my witch pendant!

Hello Dolly!

Yesterday I felt like sewing, and made this art doll. She is made from felt, and stretchy material ... all hand stitched and one of a kind!

Three Frogs on a Blog

I drew this for my cousin Cam. He has pet frogs and he wears glasses. When I finished drawing the frogs I said to Mum that it looked scarily like him. We made some prints and turned them into fridge magnets. Check my Etsy shop for one soon!

Katedoodlez Jewellery

Today my Mum helped me to make some KateDoodlez pendants. Both of them are available in my Etsy shop for $7 plus postage.

I can put any of my KateDoodlez images onto a pendant from any of my Bookmarks or ACEO's.

Ninjas are cool

Mum has been painting lots of ninja stuff, and I think they're really cool ... so I made a ninja paper doll. His sword is detachable too ... awesome.

Paper Dolls

I love making paper dolls. I have been making them since I was 5. Mum lets me use her paper scraps, and I make them up as I go along. Next I'm going to make a ninja (because Mum's painting cool ninja stuff at the moment, and I want to try it too!). I made this doll for my cousin Reen.

I thought I'd put one of my favourite cartoons on my blog for you to see. The witch is making an attempt to steal Katelon's magic necklace ... I hope you find it as funny as I do.

My Favourite ACEO

This is my favourite ACEO. This is the Witch character from my KateDoodlez cartoons. She is always trying to steal Katelon's magic necklace so she can rule the world ... but she's not very good at it and usually ends up flat on her face *ha ha*.

I just re-listed this ACEO in my Etsy shop. It had over 180 views, but then I lost the views, so I thought I'd re-list it.

A day at the Zoo

We went to the zoo on Saturday. Our whole family was there, from my cousin who is 1, to my great grandmother who says she's 21 ... but I don't know about that.

This was my favourite animal on the day. It's a Fennec Fox. Isn't it cute?! My Mum took this photo.

We saw the bird show, and the new sea life exhibit, but not many seals were out. We did get to see the baby chimpanzee, which was really, really cute.

Two Bunnies!

There's another rabbit visiting our Butterscotch Bunny. Mum found out they've escaped from a neighbour. Butterscotch really wants to be with the other rabbit. I think they're sisters. My Dad is going to try to catch the other bunny tomorrow.

The Butterscotch Bunny

Butterscotch is the cutest thing you've ever seen ... the softest thing you've ever felt and he beckons you for food. My dad caught Butterscotch the bunny today in our backyard. He has been visiting our yard and nibbling on our plants for 9 days. We borrowed a hutch, Mum bought some straw, and he's safe now from the neighbourhood dogs. I really want to keep him.

Katelon's Magic Necklace

This ACEO was a custom order for a lovely lady in California called June. She asked for a picture of Katelon wearing her magic necklace ... and this was it. June also bought my PIF (pay it forward) ACEO from my Etsy shop ... Katelon's wand.

It's really exciting to know that my ACEO's are on the other side of the world!

I am KateDoodlez, 9 year old artist, living in Australia.

See this cool picture of me ... this was drawn for me by newspaper artist, Peter Lewis. I was really excited to meet him and ask him lots of questions. I want to be a cartoonist when I grow up. My Mum says people should buy my art now so they can be rich when I become famous! She thinks this drawing of me is scary and said something about getting her shooters license. I don't know about that. I really like it. Mums can be weird sometimes *ha ha ha*.
